Zarja The Dawn 2010 topics: 

 

JANUARY/FEBRUARY - By now you should have received the January/February issue featuring the Three Kings. We hope you enjoyed it.

 

MARCH/APRIL - We will focus on Salt in Slovenia and why it is so important. If you visited the Salt area in Slovenia and would like to share your story or even a recipe the deadline is January 15.

 

MAY/JUNE - We will highlight our Members of the Year.  Please submit one picture and 300 words or less on why the person was chosen.  In the past few years a few branches have selected more than one person, remember our space is still limited and 300 words are the maximum regardless if it’s one or three people.  The firm deadline is February 15.

 

JULY/AUGUST - Are you from Prekmurje Region?  Have you visited there and have a great story or picture to submit, now is your chance. Deadline is May 15

 

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER - All Soul’s Day will be featured in this issue.  Any stories you have that go along with this please submit prior to deadline of July 15.

 

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - It seems that our readers love anything and everything to do with Potica.  So this coming Holiday Season you will see another Potica issue.  We need your stories!  We need your pictures!  We need your recipes!  Please submit by deadline of September 15.

 

Zarja 2010 is an exciting time and a fun year for all of us to be a part of.  Below you can find information on how to submit articles, deadlines, advertise and how to get more involved in this special product called Zarja the Dawn.

 

REPORTER’S GUIDELINES:

 

SUBMITTING NEWS/UPCOMING EVENTS - Please limit your report to 300 words or less.  Be very careful to use your space wisely.  Always list a contact person with telephone and e-mail address at the end of your report.  Try to let our readers know what is happening at your meetings, events and anything in the future.  DO use your branch article as free advertisement to highlight your branch in a positive way.  Talk about the interesting things you do as a branch and let others know why they should be attending.  Make it sound so good – that everyone in your branch WILL WANT to attend your next meeting.  They will feel the enthusiasm coming from your report.  I guarantee a great report will result in great attendance at meetings!  If you have any questions on what your goal is at the branch meetings just look at the vision/mission/purpose of SWUA – do you follow it?

 

PHOTOS AND PHOTO CAPTIONS - Send in your photos!  A picture speaks a thousand words, if you have no material for a branchreport, please send a photo of a branch meeting/event carefully identifying the people in the photo and the occasion.  A photo makes your branch appear “active” even if you do not have text news for a particular issue.  Please note: Pictures sent via email are preferred.  Pictures will not be returned.  Copies can be made for as little as 19 cents at a local Wal-mart.  Do not send your picture within your report.  Send jpeg via email.

 

BE TIMELY!  DEADLINE FOR SENDING YOUR REPORTS TO ZARJA - There are six issues per year.  Anything submitted after the deadline will not be included in future issues.  Please observe the deadlines listed below.

 

 

SENDING NEWS TO ZARJA - Email reports/articles to: wprokup@aol.com – in the subject line type your branch and Zarja issue.  Example:  Branch 1 January February 2010  - Example: Member of the Year Br 1.  Reports should be:

single-spaced

11 font size

Times New Roman

One (1) space between sentences

EDITING - We assume the editor’s prerogative to delete or edit any material that does not conform to the  guidelines.

 

MEMBER OF THE YEAR - The 2010 Member of the Year Annual Tribute will be here before we know it.  As in the past we will feature all members who were chosen by their branches in the May/June 2010 issue.  The guidelines are the same however the date is very firm!  If anyone submits after this date it will not be included in this issue or any other issue of Zarja.  For those sending it in late the article will appear in the online newsletter only.  Please submit the article and picture electronically by February 15, 2010.  THE TRIBUTE SHOULD BE NO LONGER THAN 300 words. Pictures are welcomed but will not be returned.  Everything should be sent electronically.
